Disneyland Insider Guide: 3 Best Spots Outside the Parks (Anaheim)
After a full day at Disneyland, a meal, a short walk, or a few stores to browse often feels like enough. These three places offer different ways to spend time around Anaheim without planning another park day.
GardenWalk works for an evening walk and dinner near some resort-area hotels. The Outlets at Orange is where I go for clothes and shoes. Downtown Disney keeps you near the parks without requiring another theme park ticket.
1. Anaheim GardenWalk: The Easiest Wind-Down After the Parks
GardenWalk has felt quieter than Downtown Disney during my visits, especially for an evening walk after dinner. The decorative lights and artificial flower displays give us something to look at as we wander past the shops. On one visit, we stopped at Paris Baguette for dessert and drinks after our meal.
I don’t come here expecting a large shopping mall or a long list of attractions. Restaurants are more of a reason to visit. What I enjoy is having dinner, looking around, and walking at an easy pace away from the bustle of Disneyland.
GardenWalk offers restaurants and entertainment within walking reach of some resort-area hotels, especially along Katella Avenue.
For the walk from the park gates, allow for signal crossings and the location of your restaurant inside GardenWalk. Check directions from your starting point, and consider the return walk if your group is tired or using a stroller.
Dining & Entertainment Choices
The dining lineup includes The Cheesecake Factory, with a broad menu for a group meal. Check reservations or wait-list options before heading over, and ask about parking validation if you drive.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is another familiar option. For an interactive group meal, FiRE+iCE Interactive Grill lets you choose ingredients for a bowl and watch the food cook at the grill.
Beyond food, options include live music at House of Blues Anaheim, bowling at Lucky Strike Anaheim, and a movie at AMC Anaheim GardenWalk 6. Billy Beez offers indoor play for children. Check each venue's hours, admission requirements, and event schedule rather than assuming everything stays open after the parks close.

The Outlets at Orange is one of my regular shopping stops, especially for workout clothes and sneakers. Nike Factory Store is a favorite, and ASICS and adidas are usually on my list too. Having several stores in one outdoor shopping center makes browsing and comparing shoes convenient.
Plan to drive or use a rideshare from the Disneyland area. Travel time depends on your starting point and traffic, so check directions before leaving. For visitors, a few hours here fit well into a non-park day when shopping is already part of the plan.

The Stores and Stops I Return To
For clothing, I often check Lucky Brand, Levi’s, Banana Republic Factory, and H&M. Calvin Klein Underwear, Vans, and Saks OFF 5TH are other familiar stops. The appeal is being able to walk between stores and shop at a comfortable pace, though finding the right size and price still takes some looking.
A pretzel from Auntie Anne’s is part of almost every visit. Starbucks is another stop, and sometimes I browse Guitar Center or spend time playing games at Dave & Buster’s. Shopping is usually the reason I go, but the visit sometimes turns into a longer outing.
The outlet name alone does not tell you whether a purchase is good value. Compare the final price, fit, and return terms before buying. My shopping here is mainly for everyday clothes and shoes, so I would not plan a trip around finding the same Disney merchandise sold inside the parks.
Weekends feel busier, with moviegoers and shoppers sharing the parking areas. Finding a space has taken longer on some visits. When the lots are crowded, I often check the side near the Saks OFF 5TH building. That area has felt less congested during some of my visits, but I would not count on finding an open space every time.

Downtown Disney feels lively and full of energy. World of Disney takes us a while to browse. There is so much merchandise to look through, and I often find more things I want to buy than I planned.
The LEGO Store is another regular stop for our family. My children love LEGO, so we spend time looking at the sets and often do some shopping.
We also enjoyed some great live music and street performances as we walked through the district. For our family, Downtown Disney feels like an outing of its own.
There is no admission fee for Downtown Disney, and no theme park ticket is required. Food, purchases, parking, and paid activities are separate expenses.

The dining options range from a quick snack to a sit-down meal. Din Tai Fung serves dumplings, including xiao long bao, while Paseo offers Mexican dining. Check the official dining directory for menus, hours, and reservations.
Céntrico and Tiendita offer other Mexican dining options, while Ballast Point and Black Tap add beer, burgers, and shakes to the mix. These are dining choices to compare, rather than personal meal reviews. Look at the menu before deciding whether you want a full dinner or a smaller stop.
